Detachment Is A Choice
I received an interesting email today. It was someone asking how you detach from the outcome when you hate an aspect of your life so much that you can’t believe you’ll be okay with having such a situation continue indefinitely.
This isn’t the first time I’ve been asked such a question. The answer is always easy for me. It’s the application of the answer that can be hard for people. Often, it’s much easier for them to continue with things as they are, then it is for them to make a change. I guess that’s why, no matter who asks the question, the same things are revealed: 1) resistance, 2) focusing on the negative, and 3) lack of trust.
So, what is the answer?
Everything in your life was created by you, whether you like what you created or not. Whenever you focus on the things in your life that you dislike, you create more of them. When you put an emotion to your thoughts, like hate, you increase the speed at which they are created. Thus, making it seem like the things you find most undesirable are the hardest to get rid of: thoughts + powerful emotions = superglue.
That’s why it’s so important for you to appreciate what you have now. When you begin to appreciate everything, finding the positive in the negative, things change. The thoughts and emotions you put out will begin to attract to you the things you truly want.
You control your life so decide to live the life you want. Choose to create only what you desire and choose to appreciate everything you create.
And if you think that you’re not okay with the situation remaining as is, then your belief that you’re not okay will limit you. Trust that everything will be okay. If you choose to trust that no matter what happens you will be okay, you will be okay. I have found this to be true time and time again, not only in my life, but also in the lives of others. No matter how bad things appeared to be, by simply choosing to trust the everything would be okay, it was okay. More often than not, simply making the decision to trust caused the entire situation to change for the better.
It doesn’t matter if your problem is family members, where you live, difficult neighbors, or lack of money. You created the situation, consciously or unconsciously, and you can uncreate it. You can be okay in your current situation if you choose to be. Your life can change if you choose for it to change. It’s all up to you.
