Why the Law of Attraction Doesn’t Work
Many people claim to be using the Law of Attraction properly. They say they spend all their time thinking positively about their desire and visualizing it so vividly that they can taste it. But after a couple of weeks without their desire appearing, they begin complaining that the Law of Attraction doesn’t work. They talk about how it works for everyone but them. They claim the Law of Attraction is a scam. They rant and they rave…the whole time asking, “Why isn’t the Law of Attraction working for me?”
The thing is, if they really understood the Law of Attraction, they wouldn’t be doing this. They would understand that it can take time for things to manifest. Just as you don’t plant a seed and then dig it up every day to see if it is growing, you don’t ask for something and then look around every day to see if it’s here yet. You plant your seed and allow it to grow. You trust that it will happen.
You see, the people complaining about the Law of Attraction allow their impatience to get in their way. They are so attached to their desire, they don’t step back, take a breath, and look at what is going on around them. All they see is what they want to see - their desire not appearing.
Yes, they want to see their desire not appearing. Why? Often a part of them, even if it’s subconscious, doesn’t want their desire. They might be afraid of what would happen if it actually did appear. They might want to be unhappy. They might simply want to prove to themselves that the Law of Attraction doesn’t work.
And so, they never fully accept the Law of Attraction. They might try to work with the Law of Attraction, going through the motions. Usually stopping after a couple of weeks, maybe a month. They allow the negative thoughts and patterns to creep in. They give up. They never really intend to manifest their desire.
The Law of Attraction is a Universal Law and you can’t fool the Universe. If you expect the Law of Attraction to fail, it will fail. If a part of you doesn’t want to attract your desire, you won’t. If you want to give up, the Universe will let you.
Just remember that the more you complain about the Law of Attraction, the more you will find to complain about. If you truly intend to attract your desire, you won’t complain. No matter how long it takes for your desire to manifest, you’ll be okay with it -it will be just the right amount of time. And you will do whatever it takes for you to manifest your desire.

I was happy to find your blog today and to see you writing about similar topics. I write about the Law of Attraction from a Jewish mystical, or Kabbalistic, perspective. You can find some of my writings at www.purespiritcreations.com (under the news releases until they are reorganized in the next few days). I think lots of people, my husband included, give up before they manifest what they want, and their frustration and negativity about not manifesting what they want fast enough simply ensures that they will not attract what they desire.
I wrote on the same topic in a booklet of mine, called “Abracadabra! The Kabbalah of Conscious Creation,” which will soon be a book by a similar title (”The Kabbalah of Conscious Creation”). I thought you might enjoy reading what I wrote, so here is an excerpt:
Understand Why Manifestation Doesn’t Always Happen
Despite our best efforts to use the steps and the tools proposed in this booklet, or those offered in such books as The Secret or written by Esther Hicks or Dr. Wayne Dyer (to name just a few authors), sometimes we can’t seem to bring our dreams or desires into our physical reality. Manifestation doesn’t happen. We might then conclude that this stuff doesn’t work. It’s just silly hocus pokus, but that isn’t the truth.
Sometimes manifestation doesn’t happen, because we aren’t ready for it. Just as during creation of the world the containers that were supposed to hold God’s energy instead shattered, we may not yet be strong enough to contain the thing we want. A good example of this is the person whose desire it is to be wealthy, buys a lottery ticket and then wins the lottery. However, he immediately spends all the money he won leaving himself in the same financial state he was in prior to winning the lottery. This could simply be because his thoughts about money and ways of dealing with his finances hadn’t changed. He hadn’t built a strong enough container to hold a different financial condition or to see himself as financially abundant.
Sometimes we don’t create what we want because we have negative thoughts that block us from receiving what we want, or we may have fears that prevent us from allowing in what we desire. We need to explore these and then move forward with positive thoughts, confidence and courage. In the moment we do so we are more likely to attract what we want and to help create our dreams.
Sometimes we simply aren’t meant to have what we desire. Maybe it doesn’t help us fulfill our soul’s purpose or it isn’t part of the Divine Plan. We don’t always know the reason.
Maybe we don’t manifest our desire, because we are supposed to manifest something different and better — a surprise. We have to be willing to really look at what does appear in our lives; we might have manifested something without realizing it, only because it showed up looking different than we expected. Don’t be attached to how your creation will look when it arrives. Be open to seeing anything that arrives as the product of your deliberate conscious creation efforts.
