Not Manifesting? This Book is for You! - A Review

I tried to like Not Manifesting? This Book is for You! by Kathleen Mackenzie. I really did. But I don’t.

Mackenzie claims to have spent a lot of time studying manifesting and presents this book as a compilation of what she has learned that works. But I’m not sure that this book will help people. I’m not even certain Mackenzie fully understands manifesting.

You see, there are a number of things that make me dislike this book.

1. It’s poorly organized and could use some editing. The chapters don’t flow well and the book contradicts itself too often.

2. Mackenzie encourages people not to go after their big dreams, but to go after smaller things that, in her belief, are more attainable. I know not only from person experience, but also from the experiences of people I have helped with manifesting over the years, that it is possible to attain the big dream from the very beginning. To believe you have to start small is to doubt the Universe’s ability to provide. It involves placing focus on how something will manifest (i.e., you have to experience the small triumphs before you can experience the large) and creates resistance towards the big dreams.

If I had followed Mackenzie’s advice, my life would be vastly different from what it is now - everything from manifesting my dream car to living in France to everything in between. Pretty much everything I’ve created in my life has stemmed from a big dream. If I had started with the small dreams and worked my way up, I would still have a long way to go for many of my desires.

If my aunt had listened to this book, she wouldn’t have manifested her dream house in the country with every amenity she could imagine, because, according to Mackenzie, it would have been impossible for her ego to accept it due to where she was living previously.

So many people, so many lives, would be different if they were to follow this advice from Mackenzie.

3. Mackenzie claims that some things, such as parking spaces, only appear because of luck. Do we not manifest our own luck? If we think things are going to go poorly, focus on how bad our day has been and so forth, will we not experience more negative things happening, even overlooking some of the positives that do occur? This entire statement by Mackenzie, to me, demonstrates incomplete understanding of manifesting. Personally, I want all of the luck I can get. I want the good parking spaces. I want things to just magically happen as if by luck. I seek to manifest luck every moment of every day.

Now, please understand that I’m not saying this book is completely bad, because it isn’t. It does have some good information, such as taking responsibility for one’s life and how important beliefs are. I agree with Mackenzie that forgiveness is important. If more forgiveness took place in the world, whether it be forgiveness of others or of self, things would be a lot different. People would feel light, attract more desires, see relationships change, and more.

I also think it’s wonderful that the author offers to personally help people with their first manifestation, but after reading this book, I fear that she might discourage people from going after their heart’s desires, instead encouraging them to settle for something less.

And, as you know, manifesting is not about settling.

Okay, so maybe this review is also part rant. It’s just frustrating to pick up a book that seem to have so much potential, only to be left with so much disappointment.

Books On Manifesting

I’ve received dozens of e-mails, all on the topic of books: books to learn more about manifesting, books to give as gifts, etc. So I’ve created a list of some of the books I recommend…just for you.

Ask and It Is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks - Esther and Jerry Hicks, along with Abraham, have been teaching how to create the life you desire for two decades and it shows. This book is well-written and easy to understand.

Ask and It Is Given explains the importance of thought and emotions in manifesting. A myriad of exercises are provided to help you manifest your desires, overcome resistance, and feel good. There are also chapters on relationships, prosperity, and health.

However, if you want a book that you can read in one sitting, this isn’t it. The first time you read it, you may not be able to get through very many chapters at a time. But if you keep at it, you’ll be glad that you did.

Zero Limits: The Secret Hawaiian System for Wealth, Health, Peace, and More by Joe Vitale and Dr. Hew Len - This book is an introduction to Self I-Dentity through Ho’oponopono (SIDH). Basically, SIDH is a system that removes any resistance you might have to attracting your desires. I’ve found this system to be more thorough at removing resistance than other methods, such as EFT and the Sedona Method, while working just as fast. This method also works well with affirmations. For example, if, when using an affirmation, you feel resistance, doubt, tension in your body, or just find it difficult to consistently say the affirmation, you can simply apply SIDH. In no time, your reaction to the affirmation will change, you’ll automatically begin believing the affirmation, and you’ll notice faster results when you use the affirmation.

Now, this book has some pretty big cons: 1) Joe Vitale does a lot of promotion in the book of both his products and himself, 2) several chapters should have been deleted because they just act as filler, and 3) Joe tries to convince you to attend a seminar to learn more about Ho’oponopono.

However, it’s pretty easy to ignore Joe’s promotional tactics.  Also, Zero Limits does present enough information on SIDH and various techniques used in its application in order for you to apply it without attending a seminar. However, if you feel a seminar is necessary after reading the book, you can save hundreds of dollars by simply buying a recording of a seminar at www.zerolimits.info. I haven’t viewed the recording. But, then again, I don’t feel a seminary is necessary. The book is sufficient.

You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay - I just finished reading this book and I highly recommend it. It does a wonderful job of explaining how our thoughts and emotions affect not only our life, but our health. Techniques are provided for changing thoughts, healing physical ailments (everything from acne to cancer), and improving finances, relationships, and jobs.

I think the only negative about this book is the heavy emphasis on affirmations.  While I believe affirmations work, there are also other techniques that work as well.  Also, sometimes it can be difficult to see results from affirmations if there is resistance to receiving the outcome being affirmed.  However, it is a good book that can help people transform their lives.

Secrets of Attraction: The Universal Laws of Love, Sex and Romance by Sandra Anne Taylor - This is a wonderful book that covers not only how to manifest a new relationship, but how to improve that ones that you already have.  There are exercises and techniques to help you figure out not only what you want in a relationship, but also why you don’t have the relationship you desire and how you can get it now. This book is written in a manner that makes you feel like you have a personal coach right there with you, holding your hand, guiding you through the process. If I could only say one thing about this book, it’s that it works.

The Abundance Book by John Randolph Price - This is a great book for raising your prosperity consciousness. The Forty Day Prosperity Plan found within the book really works to take your abundance to the next level. Now, this book does make a lot of references to God which can be a turn off to some. But don’t let it turn you off from this book. The book can easily be modified to refer to God as the Source, the Universe, or any term that might be more acceptable.

Dynamic Laws of Prosperity by Catherine Ponder - This book has been around for years and there’s a reason. It provides wonderful insight on how to manifest prosperity in all areas of your life - money, relationships, health, etc. There are wonderful examples and techniques for manifesting prosperity - covering everything from visualization to affirmations to removing resistance. Following the techniques in this book, can produce results, but like with all manifesting techniques, you have to be consistent.

The Wisdom of Florence Scovel Shinn by Florence Scovel Shinn consists of four complete books by Florence Scovel Shinn. I think the best thing about this book is its teachings on taking action.  If you have ever wondered about the importance of taking action to manifest your desires or had trouble understanding when to act, this book is for you. It does a wonderful job of explaining action and provides a myriad of examples to do so.  However, it doesn’t stop there.  If you have been looking for synchronicities or miracles to appear in your life, this book can put you on that path.

I know there are more books out there. Who knows which ones I’ll write about next…

Attracting Relationships

I love reading books, especially books that help empower you to live the life of your dreams. I recently read a book that I want to share with you today.

It is Secrets of Attraction: The Universal Laws of Love, Sex and Romance by Sandra Anne Taylor. It’s a wonderful book designed to help you use Universal Laws to take control of your relationships - deciding for yourself not only the kind of person you will meet, but the type of relationship you will have with him/her.

For years, Sandra taught people how to apply Universal Laws to relationships with amazing results. In Secrets of Attraction, she has turned her techniques into an easy-to-use system that works to bring about success in love.

Her book shows you:

* How to attract the love of your life
* How to eliminate the problems you are having manifesting relationships
* How to improve all relationships you’re in now - romantic, family, friends…
* And more!

Sandra is clear that the only thing preventing people from having the relationships they desire is themselves. She provides great advice on how to stop being your own roadblock so that love can begin flowing into your life, exactly as you desire it.

In my own experience, I’ve found that love is all around us; it’s just up to us to let it into our lives.

Are you ready to let love into your life?

If so, I suggest you get Secrets of Attraction.

But only if you truly want the relationship of your dreams.
