Not Manifesting? This Book is for You! - A Review

I tried to like Not Manifesting? This Book is for You! by Kathleen Mackenzie. I really did. But I don’t.

Mackenzie claims to have spent a lot of time studying manifesting and presents this book as a compilation of what she has learned that works. But I’m not sure that this book will help people. I’m not even certain Mackenzie fully understands manifesting.

You see, there are a number of things that make me dislike this book.

1. It’s poorly organized and could use some editing. The chapters don’t flow well and the book contradicts itself too often.

2. Mackenzie encourages people not to go after their big dreams, but to go after smaller things that, in her belief, are more attainable. I know not only from person experience, but also from the experiences of people I have helped with manifesting over the years, that it is possible to attain the big dream from the very beginning. To believe you have to start small is to doubt the Universe’s ability to provide. It involves placing focus on how something will manifest (i.e., you have to experience the small triumphs before you can experience the large) and creates resistance towards the big dreams.

If I had followed Mackenzie’s advice, my life would be vastly different from what it is now - everything from manifesting my dream car to living in France to everything in between. Pretty much everything I’ve created in my life has stemmed from a big dream. If I had started with the small dreams and worked my way up, I would still have a long way to go for many of my desires.

If my aunt had listened to this book, she wouldn’t have manifested her dream house in the country with every amenity she could imagine, because, according to Mackenzie, it would have been impossible for her ego to accept it due to where she was living previously.

So many people, so many lives, would be different if they were to follow this advice from Mackenzie.

3. Mackenzie claims that some things, such as parking spaces, only appear because of luck. Do we not manifest our own luck? If we think things are going to go poorly, focus on how bad our day has been and so forth, will we not experience more negative things happening, even overlooking some of the positives that do occur? This entire statement by Mackenzie, to me, demonstrates incomplete understanding of manifesting. Personally, I want all of the luck I can get. I want the good parking spaces. I want things to just magically happen as if by luck. I seek to manifest luck every moment of every day.

Now, please understand that I’m not saying this book is completely bad, because it isn’t. It does have some good information, such as taking responsibility for one’s life and how important beliefs are. I agree with Mackenzie that forgiveness is important. If more forgiveness took place in the world, whether it be forgiveness of others or of self, things would be a lot different. People would feel light, attract more desires, see relationships change, and more.

I also think it’s wonderful that the author offers to personally help people with their first manifestation, but after reading this book, I fear that she might discourage people from going after their heart’s desires, instead encouraging them to settle for something less.

And, as you know, manifesting is not about settling.

Okay, so maybe this review is also part rant. It’s just frustrating to pick up a book that seem to have so much potential, only to be left with so much disappointment.

Thanks for saying it like it is! I was thinking about buying this book because of the good reviews on Amazon, but after looking closer saw a comment to a review about how to tell all the reviews aren’t legitimate. I like that you were honest about the book and very thorough.
