Not Manifesting? This Book is for You! - A Review

I tried to like Not Manifesting? This Book is for You! by Kathleen Mackenzie. I really did. But I don’t.

Mackenzie claims to have spent a lot of time studying manifesting and presents this book as a compilation of what she has learned that works. But I’m not sure that this book will help people. I’m not even certain Mackenzie fully understands manifesting.

You see, there are a number of things that make me dislike this book.

1. It’s poorly organized and could use some editing. The chapters don’t flow well and the book contradicts itself too often.

2. Mackenzie encourages people not to go after their big dreams, but to go after smaller things that, in her belief, are more attainable. I know not only from person experience, but also from the experiences of people I have helped with manifesting over the years, that it is possible to attain the big dream from the very beginning. To believe you have to start small is to doubt the Universe’s ability to provide. It involves placing focus on how something will manifest (i.e., you have to experience the small triumphs before you can experience the large) and creates resistance towards the big dreams.

If I had followed Mackenzie’s advice, my life would be vastly different from what it is now - everything from manifesting my dream car to living in France to everything in between. Pretty much everything I’ve created in my life has stemmed from a big dream. If I had started with the small dreams and worked my way up, I would still have a long way to go for many of my desires.

If my aunt had listened to this book, she wouldn’t have manifested her dream house in the country with every amenity she could imagine, because, according to Mackenzie, it would have been impossible for her ego to accept it due to where she was living previously.

So many people, so many lives, would be different if they were to follow this advice from Mackenzie.

3. Mackenzie claims that some things, such as parking spaces, only appear because of luck. Do we not manifest our own luck? If we think things are going to go poorly, focus on how bad our day has been and so forth, will we not experience more negative things happening, even overlooking some of the positives that do occur? This entire statement by Mackenzie, to me, demonstrates incomplete understanding of manifesting. Personally, I want all of the luck I can get. I want the good parking spaces. I want things to just magically happen as if by luck. I seek to manifest luck every moment of every day.

Now, please understand that I’m not saying this book is completely bad, because it isn’t. It does have some good information, such as taking responsibility for one’s life and how important beliefs are. I agree with Mackenzie that forgiveness is important. If more forgiveness took place in the world, whether it be forgiveness of others or of self, things would be a lot different. People would feel light, attract more desires, see relationships change, and more.

I also think it’s wonderful that the author offers to personally help people with their first manifestation, but after reading this book, I fear that she might discourage people from going after their heart’s desires, instead encouraging them to settle for something less.

And, as you know, manifesting is not about settling.

Okay, so maybe this review is also part rant. It’s just frustrating to pick up a book that seem to have so much potential, only to be left with so much disappointment.

Manifesting Isn’t Free

We all want everything for free.  We just want it to come to us, without having to lift a finger, without having to do a darn thing, really.  We just want the world handed to us on a silver platter, giving us everything we want when we want it.  We’d love for our desires to be given to us before we even realize that they’re something that we want - just a miraculous order fulfillment service…that’s free, works instantly, and doesn’t require any work.

It’s okay to believe that miracles happen and that we have a destiny out there, but we have to help make it happen.  We can’t just sit back and expect it to happen without working for it.  In order to win the lotto, a lotto ticket has to be bought.  To manifest a relationship, it’s necessary to get out of the house.

Something must be done.

If we’re manifesting something that we really desire, the work is fun and easy.  We enjoy it because we know it’s bringing us closer to what we want.  We can see, feel, and know that it’s happening.

And it’s always easy to see what we need to do when we are aligned with our desires.  The little signs from the Universe, the pushes and the nudges, are clear.  They feel like inspirations and synchronicity.  We enjoy following them.  We enjoy everything about the process that brings us to the manifestation of our desires.  It doesn’t feel like work.

Manifesting is never free.  We do have to take action for our desires to come to us.  But it only feels like work when we have resistance to our desires, whether it’s consciously or unconsciously.

Manifest a great day!

Anastasia

Aligning With Your Desire - Part 2

So how do you know when you are aligned with your desire?

When you feel excitement and enthusiasm whenever you think about it.

When you make statements like, “I don’t know how this will ever happen” or “I can’t afford it,” you simply don’t feel good. You feel down. You feel lack. You feel the exact opposite of the excitement and enthusiasm you need to feel to manifest your desire.

Your words and your feelings are the places you need to begin to change. The more aware you are of them, the more you can begin to decide what it is you want to create. As you change them into words that make you feel good and into feelings of excitement and enthusiasm, you will start to move into alignment with your desire. You will be intentionally creating what you want, not accidentally creating what you don’t want.

At first, you might spend a lot of time catching yourself saying things or feeling emotions that are not in alignment with your desire. But in time, the more you pay attention to your words and feelings, the less attention you will have to pay. Sure, time from time, the non-aligning words and feelings might creep up again, especially if you have a lot of resistance to something new you are manifesting, but even then, it will be far easier to turn your words and feelings back to ones that align with your desire. Once you know what it feels like to be in alignment, it’s easy to return.

Aligning With Your Desire - Part 1

When you are aligned with your desire, magic happens. Life speeds up; everything is effortless. Your desires manifest in mere moments because you have no resistance.

Every single moment, you are thinking, feeling, saying, and doing things and the Universe is responding. Whatever you put out, you receive back.

You might say to yourself, “I’d like a new relationship,” but if you immediately follow it with, “but it’ll never happen for me” or “they always end in heartbreak” or “I’m not good enough,” you cancel your desire. It doesn’t matter how long you visualize, how often you say an affirmation, or create lists, if you counter all of your work with excuses or “but” statements, it won’t happen. You will not align with your desire. You will remain in a state of resistance.

You see, when you ask for the Universe for something, but then counter it with why it won’t happen, the Universe will see to it that it doesn’t happen. That’s the way the Law of Attraction works. It responds to what you believe most strongly. And it is the “but” statements – the excuses for why it won’t happen – that people believe the most strongly. They are the statements that convey the most powerful emotions. They always follow the asking, and thus, are the last thought the Universe hears. And so it answers in kind.
