Things Are Not Always As They Appear

I’ve been receiving a lot of emails lately about how it’s apparent I’m a student of Abraham. As flattering as it is to be mentioned in such a way, I’m truly not. I read one book by Abraham-Hicks several years ago (“Ask and It is Given”) and watched a video on their website about two weeks ago. That’s pretty much it.

In my opinion, to be a student of someone, you need to read most of, if not all of, their work, attend their conferences, etc. I can’t do that with Abraham-Hicks. Personally, I find their teachings too repetitive. I’m not the kind of person who likes to hear the same thing over and over again. It drives me nuts. Just tell me once and get on with it. However, I do understand that a lot of people do need repetition. For many, it is the best way to learn and Abraham-Hicks are fabulous teachers. They have done a wonderful job getting their message out.

In terms of being a student of someone, I’m probably more of a student of Plato and Buddha because I’ve studied more of their works. I first started reading them in elementary school. Most people probably wouldn’t think of Plato as someone from whom one could learn how to manifest, but his theory of the Forms and his allegory of the cave are quite enlightening. I was first introduced to the concept of living in the present moment by Buddhism. My knowledge of manifesting stems from large ideas like those conveyed by Plato and Buddha. I’ve simply taken them and applied them to my life and how I view the world.

All of the techniques I apply to manifest my desires are the techniques I used successfully before I read that one Abraham-Hicks book. The story I tell about my life on my website, www.SecretsofManifesting.com, came about before I ever heard of Abraham-Hicks, read any book by anyone on manifesting, or even knew that the Law of Attraction had a name. I just developed the knack of getting what I want when I want it.

When people began asking me how I manifested so much and so quickly, I started to look at what I did and realized there was a pattern. Whenever there was something I desired, I did specific things that resulted in the manifestation of my desires. Once I discovered the pattern, I was finally able to tell people exactly what I did. When they did those same things, their desires manifested. I ended up putting my techniques into a book in order to make the information available to more people. It’s far easier to say, “Here, read this,” then to sit down and tell someone everything every day.

What Happens When Two People Try To Manifest The Same Thing?

Remember, you create your own reality. You’re the one thinking that two people want the same thing. You’re also the one thinking that only one of them can get it. You’re creating everything – the two people, the competition, etc. You’re manifesting it because you believe in it.

If you believe that two people will want the same thing, you will manifest this scenario. Maybe you believe that life is unfair and competitive when it comes to finding a new job, winning the lottery, or even love. If you do, then that is what you will manifest. Maybe it’ll be in the form of fifteen applicants for one position, a million people competing for the same lottery prize, or someone trying to steal your partner.

This might sound like a huge burden being placed on you – being responsible for everything in your life. After all, you can change your life by changing your thoughts, but you cannot change your responsibility.

You create your life. If you focus on lack, violence, recession, war, and a bad housing marking, then that’s what you’ll get. You’ll see it everywhere – the news, conversations overheard, the lives of people around you, even in your own life. But if you think about happiness, good times, love, and abundance, then that is what you will get. You create your own reality. Your thoughts bring to you what you think about. There is no conflict. Any conflict that arises is within you.

Free Video From Abraham-Hicks

Last week Abraham gave a wonderful presentation on the “Law of Attraction” in Los Angeles.  So many topics were covered - asking, resistance, feelings, and more.  Abraham-Hicks has posted a video of the presentation on their website for free.  You can watch it at www.abraham-hicks.com/YouTubeLOA.php

Why You Can Have It All

Yesterday, Oprah aired a show on the Law of Attraction. While the show Oprah aired last year on the Law of Attraction focused on the movie, “The Secret,” this show went further and incorporated some of the theory behind how the Law of Attraction works and some of the other elements involved in manifesting, such as detachment. I think this was wonderful since it takes more than the Law of Attraction to manifest your desires.

Oprah’s guests were Louise Hay (“You Can Heal Your Life”), Martha Beck (“Finding Your Own North Star: Claiming the Life You Were Meant to Live” and “Steering by Starlight: Find Your Right Life, No Matter What!”), and Cheryl Richardson (“The Unmistakable Touch of Grace: How to Recognize and Respond to the Spiritual Signposts in Your Life”).

I believe some important points were made during the show that are often missed by those new to the Law of Attraction and easily overlooked/forgotten by those who have been studying it for quite some time. They include:

  • “…we are each responsible for the quality of our lives.” – Oprah
  • “If you change your thinking, you can change your life.” - Lousie Hay
  • The Law of Attraction isn’t just about attracting things. You should use it to improve the quality of your lives. – Louise Hay
  • “Anything you complain about is something you have an unconscious desire to produce.” – Gary Hendricks in “You Can Heal Your Life, the movie”
  • When you can look in the mirror every day and tell yourself, “I love you,” your life will change. – Louise Hay
  • Vision boards and lists work because they give “people an excuse to sit down and think about their lives.” – Cheryl Richardson
  • “If you don’t need anything, everything comes to you.” – Martha Beck
  • You need to forgive. You need to get rid of all the bitterness. – Louise Hay
  • Forgiveness is letting go, separating yourself from the experience, and not keeping yourself tied to the past. – general discussion
  • When you want something too much, you haven’t released it. Want it. Imagine it coming, then drop it. – Martha Beck
  • Ask and then surrender – Oprah

In March, Oprah and Eckhart Tolle will be conducting an online course on the Law of Attraction. You can sign up for it at www.oprah.com/anewearth. The course is meant to be taken after reading Eckhart Tolle’s book, “A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose”.

Manifesting A New Job

Question: Although I am doing extensive research about the companies that I’m applying to, still I know that I cannot know the specific details which may later turn out to be unsatisfactory for me.  So, based on the limited information that I have, how do I manifest a job with A SPECIFIC company?  Or do I just try manifesting A JOB that satisfied me with ANY company.  In the first case, I don’t feel like insisting on a specific company because of a past experience … [that] turned out to be the greatest torture of my life…. On the latter case, if I ask for A job with ANY company, then I don’t feel I can fulfill the imagination part because of the vague expectation with ANY company.

When the outcome (a satisfying job) can be attained through several means (there are tons of companies out there), but the information is very limited, how do we make our wish more specific and start imagining it in detail… [I]n this job search thing, information and imagination-provoking experimentation/experiences are severely limited.  And I don’t have a chance to go visit all the 50 companies on my list, which are scattered all around the US.

-Kyle

Answer: Even though you have manifested a job with a specific company in the past, since it was such a bad experience that you don’t want to attempt manifesting a position with a specific company again, it is best that you focus on the job and not the company.  If you try to focus on a specific company when resistance to doing so already exists, it will be more difficult for you to manifest any kind of a job.  Since you don’t have a specific company in mind at this time, it doesn’t matter where the job is.

Focusing on manifesting a job that satisfies you will bring you faster results.  After all, you already know what kind of job you desire.  Your past jobs are analogous to the test drives one takes when purchasing a new car in that they have allowed you to determine what kind of a job you want (e.g., field, salary, amount of work, how quickly you advance, etc.), what kind of a boss you desire, what kind of co-workers you want, etc.

Imagining what it would feel like to have that job, to talk to your boss/co-workers, etc., is no different than imagining working at a specific company or even imagining what it would be like to bite into a lemon.  You know the sensation.  You know what you want.  Allow yourself to imagine the experience.  You can imagine a generic office building.  You can imagine a different office building each time.  It’s the things that would make you happy that matter.  And remember, a company doesn’t bring happiness, you bring yourself happiness.

Manifest a great day!
